It is true that on the Xbox One (as well as the PlayStation 4), there is a Spdif input (for the wireless headphones), and there is a headphone output. But this is not what it sounds like. The output is the SPDIF input, which is a high impedance connection to the sound card, while the input is the USB 2.0 (1.1) connection, which is the headphone output.
That’s what the headphones make sound like. But it’s not what the headphones make sound like. The headphones make the sound like they have a high impedance output, and the headphones make the sound like they have a high impedance input.
SPDIF is a two-wire (like a phone) standard (which is why I asked), and USB 2.0 is a four-wire (like a CD drive) standard. So if you plugging into a USB 2.0 device with a 1.1 connection you can make pretty much anything sound on-the-fly.
xbox one is actually the first USB-powered Xbox, which means you can stream music and use your Xbox for video games. So you can plug any cable into a xbox and stream music from any device on it. This is pretty awesome, but it also means that the cables coming out of the Xbox are all on the same wire, which is kind of weird. For my review, I plugged a USB 2.
Of course, it’s a little odd because the cables coming out of the USB ports on the Xbox are all on the same wire, so if you plug one to the other, you’ll end up with two wires (one for the USB cable and one for the Xbox cable) passing through the USB port.
That makes sense, but I digress.
The Xbox is the only device from the Xbox family that supports the same DSD (digital audio) digital audio technology that’s in the PlayStation, with the Xbox one not supporting it. This means that if you’ve got an Xbox One, you can stream all of your music from the Xbox one to your Xbox 360, but you can’t use the Xbox one to play music from your Xbox 360.
The current Xbox One system is pretty bad at digital audio support, which means it can’t play digital audio files, but that doesn’t mean it can’t play them. You can use the Xbox one’s analog audio output to play songs on the Xbox 360 if you prefer, but if you really prefer digital audio, you could set up an Xbox 360 DSD card to play digital audio tracks.
While this may not be an official Xbox One feature, it’s an interesting one that Xbox One itself has said they would consider adding. The Xbox One has already had the ability to play music from a digital music player, but it’s not very good at it. DSD cards can make it a lot better.
It looks like the Xbox One is going to finally be able to play music from a digital music player, with the ability to set up a DSD card to play digital audio tracks.
