Not only can you not go to work, you can’t go to school, and you can’t go to the dentist. You can’t go to the supermarket. You can’t go to the doctor. There are no more people to get to know or talk to. You are on your own, and you have no idea what to do next.
It is, of course, a time when one’s life is on the line as well. One will need to look into the future to see what they can do to get through the next few days. There is no next to look forward to. One will not know what to do after this day. One will be forced to choose what they are going to do with their free time.
This is the worst time of year, when the weather is cold, rainy, and gray, and the days are short. Most people are trying to make the most of the time they have. The only people in the world who have no plans for the next few days are you and me.
The world is constantly shifting around us. We can’t predict what the future will look like, but we can choose to think about the present. What we choose to notice changes to how we look at the world and how we interact with it. In the last few days, for example, we’ve all been talking about how we want to be more active and creative during this time of year, but have had a hard time getting out of bed on a day when it’s really cold outside.

Death is a constant and constant possibility, so we can’t stop wondering if we will ever be at peace with the way things are.
Our lives are so short, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the shortness. We can still enjoy looking at each other’s faces, knowing that we will be with them forever, and being with each other forever. That’s something that can be enjoyed in the middle of an apocalypse, as long as your friends and family are ok with the end of the world.
Not only is Death an ongoing possibility, but one which we can look forward to every day. Because everything that happens in our day is a potential end of days, and Death is a constant possibility. If we don’t stop and question the way we live our lives, we will find ourselves dead. Death is a constant and constant possibility.
