Set an alarm for 1 p.m. for the rest of the day. This is a daily ritual that encourages us to wake up to our alarm and go to sleep at the same time every day. A daily alarm helps us to avoid the day-after-afternoon blues.

In general, I would recommend that you set your alarm for the morning you’re going to wake up. For example, if you’re going to work, set it to 5 a.m. If its going to the gym, set it to 3 a.m. If its going to the mall, set it to 10 a.m.
The problem is that most people don’t consider their hours to be flexible. If you work a 9 to 5 job, you can’t adjust your clock to match your work time. If youre a night owl, you have to adjust your clock to match your sleep time. I’ve seen a lot of people who don’t realize how to adjust their timekeeping to work around their jobs and lifestyles, so the consequences are just too great.
Some people are so used to having their clock set to the same time of day all the time that they just think its just fine. I know I’ve been there myself. But, I’ve had so many friends who get it wrong, that I knew the only way to avoid that problem was to make the clock change from week to week, and that was a lot for me to wrap my mind around.
You have to think about it the wrong way. It’s not like you just wake up one day and decide to set your clock for 12 noon. If you do that, the clock will always be 12:12. So if you are working 8 p.m. to 7 p.m., you’ll have to go to bed at 8:30 and get up at 6. You’ll have to use your alarm clock, so you have to get it right.
The problem is not the alarm. The problem is that in life, when you get up, you will have to do things a certain way, and that will be the way you always do them. So you might have to set the alarm to go off for 1 p.m. instead of noon, but you can’t change the way that you wake up.
In other words, you are forced to do things to get up rather than just getting up. This concept is called “automated waking up.” In this case, when you wake up you will be forced to do things to get up rather than just getting up.
