The Asus X551MA is a quad-core processor, so it’s not that exciting. But with dual-channel audio, USB 3.1 support, and a 1TB HDD, I think Asus is doing well in the audio department. But the screen is a bit dated, and the audio is terrible. I’m not sure if the Blu-Ray drive is really the most interesting part of the system. If you ask me, it’s more like a glorified HDD.
As a system with the specs and specs that Asus is offering, this is one of the most attractive systems available right now. The ASUS X551MA can be had for $299, which is a pretty good deal. It is also a bit outdated, but at least it’s not a glorified HDD.
To be honest, I didn’t think it was that much of a deal either. But I guess I’m used to seeing the X551MA on eBay and then having to return it once I start buying new parts for it. If you’re looking for a decent system, I like this one.
I have to say, I was really disappointed in the X551MA. And I’m not just saying that because I was one of the buyers. Although I wouldnt say that. I think Asus should have focused more on selling the X551MA with a HDD rather than the M. And if it was selling with the HDD, I would also not have thought it was a bad deal.
