Ethics Policy
The principles that keep TAV Reviews independent, honest, and accountable to our readers.
Last updated: 2026
Readers trust TAV Reviews to tell them the truth about the products we cover. This Ethics Policy sets out the standards our editorial team holds itself to. It underpins everything we publish.
Independence
Our verdicts, scores, and recommendations are decided by our editorial team on the basis of research and testing. They are never for sale and are never dictated by advertisers, affiliate partners, or the companies whose products we review. Commercial relationships do not influence our conclusions.
No fabrication
We do not make things up. We do not invent test results, quotes, statistics, sources, or credentials. When we are uncertain, we say so. When something is our opinion rather than a measured fact, we make that clear. If we have not tested something first-hand, we do not pretend otherwise.
Conflicts of interest
Our writers disclose any personal or financial interest that could reasonably affect their coverage, such as a stake in a company or a close relationship with a source. Where a genuine conflict exists, we reassign the story or disclose the interest prominently so readers can judge for themselves.
Gifts and samples
Reviewing hardware often means receiving review units. We accept loan and sample products only so we can test them, not as a reward. Wherever practical, review units are returned to the manufacturer after testing. When an item cannot reasonably be returned, we disclose that it was provided by the manufacturer. Accepting a sample never obliges us to give a favourable review, and we decline gifts that come with strings attached.
Corrections
We aim to get things right, and when we get something wrong we fix it. Substantive corrections are made promptly and noted transparently rather than quietly edited away. If you spot an error, email [email protected] and we will investigate.
Separation of advertising and editorial
There is a firm wall between our commercial and editorial operations. Advertising and sponsored content are always clearly labelled and visually distinct from our reporting. Sponsored pieces are produced to our standards but are never presented as independent reviews, and no advertiser sees or approves our editorial coverage in advance. Money can buy a labelled ad; it can never buy a verdict, a score, or a place in a buying guide.
