There are a few people out there who want to fry their food at home in their air fryer, but it is not widely available in the U.S. The air fryer is a little bit different from the standard fryer in that instead of a pan you place the food in the insert on the bottom of the air fryer, then you turn it on and it cooks the food in the air.
What makes this air fryer different from most is that the food is cooked “on the outside” of the insert! So when you turn on the air fryer, the food is cooking in the air. This not only gives the food a more crispy exterior, but it also cooks the food faster. The downside is that you have to be careful not to burn your fingers and that there are no controls for temperature or air flow.
I am not a fan of air fryers. I find them to be an extremely messy and unreliable kitchen appliance. They can be very messy to clean and can overheat very quickly. I think it is possible that the new Air Fryer from Sur La Table might be more user-friendly.
