The Ferguson Medical Group’s Southeastern Missouri Medical Center is located in Sikeston, MO. This hospital serves southeastern Missouri, including Sikeston, Columbia, and Franklin counties. The main reason I chose to work at a hospital is because I’m a big fan of hospitals. I like the fact that they’re clean and well-maintained, and I enjoy the ability to work in teams with other medical professionals. That being said, I also had a very difficult time finding a place to work in the state that had a hospital that was as good as, if not better than, Ferguson Medical Group (FMG).
I had absolutely no idea what Ferguson Medical Group FMG was. I started poking around the internet and found out it was a hospital specializing in heart diseases. Turns out the hospital was in Sikeston, the same city where I’ve worked. I’m not sure how that happened, but it was indeed a pleasant surprise and I’m super happy that I found a place that was as good as, if not better than, Ferguson Medical Group.
The hospital was founded in 1976 by Dr. John Ferguson and the hospital was later owned by the current Ferguson Family Foundation. Dr. Ferguson and his wife, Dr. Helen Ferguson, had a son who was born and raised in the hospital. Dr. Ferguson died in 2000, but his son continues to be involved in the hospital and the foundation. The hospital is currently in a sale and lease-back agreement with the Ferguson Family Foundation.

Dr. Thomas Ferguson was a surgeon for the St. Louis Fire Department and, later, the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He served on the board of the St. Louis County Hospital and the St. Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Ferguson was active in the American Medical Association, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Missouri Medical Association, and the American Thoracic Society. He was the president of the Missouri Medical Association from 1948 to 1951.
Ferguson also served on the board of Physicians for Human Rights, and was active in the Missouri Chapter of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross.
I guess Ferguson’s medical degrees were important. He had a reputation for being a good doctor and he was involved in the American Medical Association.
